Our greatest legacy is not how much money we make, but how deeply we contribute to improving the quality of life for others.
Rita Batchley, The Nurses’ Nurse 2012
The above statement is a call to arms for all the warriors of healthcare justice. This will be this author’s last contract as a Chief Nurse Rep contributor, as she prepares to step down and pass the baton to the next generation of caregivers who are determined to maintain Ventura County Health Care Agency as the best option for affordable, quality healthcare for our community.
As nurses in the public sector we uphold great responsibility to take care of ourselves through collective bargaining so our Healthcare Agency can retain and recruit the best and the brightest providers. By upholding a fair contract we assure the dedication of our nurses to continue improving best practices and the quality of life for all Ventura County residents.

It’s sure to be tough going as the economic landscape has not improved much in the past two years and the nurses of CNA are desperate for market value raises based on the salaries of other healthcare employees in the area.
